The city lacks adequate facilities for treatment of TAB, respiratory diseases and AIDS which are prevalent in the city. The city also needs to be provided with vacillation and agro based institutes. INFRASTRUCTURE For water supply, an immediate shift to surface water sources by water augmentation and supply from Based dam is proposed. In terms of sewerage, the existing STEP needs to be made functional and an intercepting sewer along the length of Adapt (underneath the proposed pathway linking the Ghats) needs to be developed.
Since the percentage of bio degradable waste is high, the private party can also set up a compost plant and the compost can be sold in the neighboring agricultural areas. Revival to old city drainage network and deterioration to Strauss tort reducing flooding in the city are proposed. It is proposed that 2 ponds be developed in the city; one to divert monsoon flow from Italic and the other to divert flow from Pandora. Since the runoff from Strauss will have a high silt content, it is proposed that these ponds be provided with recharge bores for enhanced percolation.
